Facility Inspections
In addition to being an elite nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A+. Very few places fared as well in this area. Our inspection grades weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this category typically have very few severe deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, this nursing home received elite marks in the category of long-term care. As a result, it was given one of our highest grades in that category with a grade of A+. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. On top of offering very favorable levels of nursing care, this nursing home gave the pneumonia vaccine to 99.42857 percent of its patients. This figure is also far better than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.62 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. Our nursing grade is mostly associated with a nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility provides an incredible 4.8 hours of nursing care per resident daily. Out of that total, many of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to providing high levels of nursing care, this nursing home also performed well in some of the quality measures we looked at. In terms of the number of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this nursing home performed better than the national average.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our final category, this nursing home was given a strong short-term care grade. We gave it a grade of A in that category, giving this facility straight A's. Our short-term care ratings are crucial for individuals looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a wide scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. This place provides more services with physical therapists and registered nurses than most nursing homes we looked at. This is generally an excellent sign. The final item we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. It fared respectably with 45 percent of its residents returning home.
