Facility Inspections
In addition to receiving a strong overall grade, this facility also earned top notch health inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our best scores in that area, with an A-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that we were able to find deficiency data for this facility. We would like to have more data for this facility. Without having the deficiency related data, it ended up being difficult to grade this facility in terms of this category.
Nurse Quality
This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B+. Our nursing score is largely associated with a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides an incredible 4.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is far more care than what is offered by most nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home also excelled in the quality measures we looked at. For example, it fared as well as any nursing home the country when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these datapoints as good measures of the quality of nursing care offered.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility was awarded a strong long-term care score as well. We gave it one of our higher grades in that area with a grade of B. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are kept in good health. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. It does not appear that this nursing home submitted vaccination data. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we graded was short-term care. In this category, we gave this nursing home a B-. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the number of patients that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. This figure was below the national average.
