Facility Inspections
While we were not very complementary of this nursing home's overall grade, it actually received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that category with an A-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Despite this deficiency, this place still received a relatively favorable inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home received its second highest category grade in the category of long-term care. We gave this facility a grade of B- in this area, which is a reasonably acceptable score. In the area of long-term care, we focus more on the quantity of care provided by a nursing home, as opposed to more healthcare-oriented services. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. Unfortunately, this nursing home vaccinated only 86.915886 percent of its residents against pneumonia. On a more positive note, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. We looked at the skill-level of nurses employed by the facility, as well as the quantity of time those nurses were with patients, in computing our grade in this category. This particular nursing home offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This figure is well below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This nursing home fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these metrics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we scored was short-term care. We gave it an F in this category, which is a rock bottom score. Short-term care ratings are meaningful for individuals needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional highly-skilled nursing. This includes a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Considering its weak score in this category, we weren't surprised to learn that this nursing home provides substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. The final metric we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 0 percent of its patients returning home.
