Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home well overall, we wanted to point out its decent inspection reports in recent years. We awarded it a somewhat respectable grade of B- in this area. We believe that one of the most critical factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of the deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
We also want to point out that this facility received a decent grade in our nursing category. We awarded it a grade of B- in the area. Nursing ratings are based in large part on quantity of nursing care available. This place provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a somewhat discouraging figure which is well below the national average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. It scored well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the number of hours of care offered.

Short-term Care Quality
The third most favorable category we gave this facility in any area came in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. Short-term care grades are generally used to assess a facility's rehabilitation services To offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have better levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the last area, this nursing home received a decent long-term care grade of B-. Our long-term care grades are based in part on a nursing home's amount of care. This includes a broad range of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine medical services. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to find that this facility vaccinated 96.78715 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
