Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Our inspection scores are tied to datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this area tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Grade: A

Adding to its top-shelf resume, this facility also performed well in our short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a score of A in that area. In our short-term care category, we attempt to create a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who returned home from this nursing home. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category. Our nursing rating is primarily based on a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning to the final category, this nursing home was given a strong long-term care score. We awarded it a grade of A- in that category, giving this facility straight A's. Facilities that do well in long-term care tend to provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. One of the statistics we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a great way to minimize unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the aged 65 and up population. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
