Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its favorable overall score, we awarded this facility an A+ for inspections. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also would like to point out the fact that this facility received a first-rate score of A in our long-term care category. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are well cared for. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 98.62069 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is often a dangerous condition for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility doesn't take any chances. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. When determining our nursing ratings, we analyze both staffing levels and the training levels of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of moving a patient more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we scored is this facility's weakest category. However, even in its worst category we still gave it an acceptable grade of B- for our short-term care category. In determining our short-term care ratings, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to create a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
