Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its favorable overall score, we awarded this facility an A+ for inspections. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home fared very well in our long-term care category. We gave them an elite grade of A+ in this area. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are well cared for. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 99.78118 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a deadly illness for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a nursing home doesn't take any chances. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to our next area, this facility also received a grade of B for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average score in this category. In the category of short-term care, we strive to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. It does not appear that this nursing home provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 4.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next category we rated proved to be this nursing home's weakest category. However, even in its weakest link we still gave it a decent grade of B- in nursing. Nursing grades are tied to quantity of nursing care available. This place provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below the national average. Lastly, our nursing ratings also factor in some quality-focused statistics. We especially like to look at the percentage of residents who experienced pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these statistics are decent measures of the quality of nursing care, since superior care tends to reduce these issues.

Grade: A

In Crestview Rehabilitation Center, 5.94% of Patients use Anti-Psychotic Medication

This metric gauges the percent of long-term patients who were prescribed antipsychotic drugs. High levels of antipsychotic drug use may suggest that a facility is using these drugs to control patient behavior in scenarios where such medications aren't medically required.
