To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection ratings are based on pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this area have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. After we finished assessing the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 86.206894 percent of its residents for pneumonia. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

The next category we graded was short-term care. This nursing home was awarded a very positive short-term care grade, with a B in this area. In the area of short-term care, we seek to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

The last area we graded was this facility's worst category. Nevertheless, even in its worst category we still awarded it a respectable grade of B- for nursing. When computing our nursing scores, we weigh both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, our nursing grades also consider some quality-focused measures. We like to look at the percent of patients who experienced pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these statistics are decent measures of the quality of nursing care, since superior care can reduce these issues.
