This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is much higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Short-term Care Quality
This facility also was awarded a very strong short-term care score. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category score. In that category, we awarded this facility a score of A-. Short-term care ratings are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. Lastly, we considered the number of residents that were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home performed better in this area than in its staffing levels. This place fared as well as just about any facility in this area with 59.4 percent of its residents returning home. Most facilities are below 50 percent in this metric.
Facility Inspections
We gave this nursing home an A- for inspections. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant. This nursing home was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple relatively minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
The final category we analyzed was nursing, where this facility was awarded a B+. This finished off a very strong profile. Very few facilities received a B+ or better in in each area we assessed. Our nursing grade includes a number of data points. The most important factor is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. With 4.1 hours of nursing care per resident per day, this nursing home surpassed the overwhelming majority of facilities. Lastly, this nursing home also excelled in several quality-based metrics we assessed. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility Arkansas in this category. This is usually an indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls. Many pressure ulcers can be avoided by offering better nursing care and a protocol of moving residents more frequently.
