Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Although we gave this facility an abysmal overall score, we awarded it a B- for our nursing rating. Nursing grades are mostly tied to a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below average. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this facility actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

We were also pleasantly surprised to find that this nursing home earned a decent short-term care rating this year. We gave it a C in that category. In forming these short-term care grades, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our purpose is to devise a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that just 3.5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this facility's third highest category is long-term care. However, with a grade of D in this area, it still fared relatively poorly. For residents seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility gave the vaccine to 98.4127 percent of its patients, which is a very solid statistic. Surprisingly, this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

The final category we looked at is inspections. Unfortunately, this nursing home didn't receive favorable government inspection reports in recent years. Consequently, we had to give it an F in this category. When a place has this poor of an inspection rating, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. This facility was hit with 6 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they posed a risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
