Facility Inspections
While we gave this nursing home a poor overall score, we awarded it a B+ for our inspections category. This was the result of the facility receiving a quality government inspection report this year. Arguably the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is generally best to avoid places that have a long list of severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home received 6 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Short-term Care Quality
Remarkably, we gave this nursing home a grade of C for its short-term care grade, which isn't a bad grade. Our short-term care grade is generally employed to grade a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To offer highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer better levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The final measure we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Long-term Care Quality
Sadly, this facility received an F for its long-term care score. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care ratings. After we finished looking at the volume of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to learn that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
The next area we scored is nursing. It received an abysmal F in this area, which is an abysmal grade. Our nursing rating weighs a handful of factors, however, the main one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This place averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is not a very impressive figure. To go along with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this nursing home also didn't fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing grades. We looked at the percent of residents sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This place had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average facility. This could be a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores and falls are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. These scores hurt this facility's nursing grade quite a bit.
