Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility earned near flawless health inspections recently. We gave them an A+ in this category. Arguably the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this area typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

This facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our nursing rating is mostly based on a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning our third category, we gave this facility a grade of A- for its short-term care score. This is a first-rate score. In the category of short-term care, we try to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In our last category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its long-term care rating. This rounded out a first-rate profile. Nursing homes that excel in this category tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. One of the statistics we considered after nursing hours is vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a reliable method to avoid unnecessary deaths for the nursing home population. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
