Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Our inspection grades are based on several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also gave this nursing home a grade of A+ for its long-term care grade. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. After we finished looking at the volume of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 96.62162 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a dangerous health condition for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility doesn't leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility was awarded a strong short-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our higher grades in that area with a score of B. Our short-term care grades are arguably most important for individuals in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional highly-skilled nursing. This means not only nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. It does not appear that this nursing home submitted registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The final category we assessed is nursing. We awarded this facility one of our better grades in this category, with a grade of B. Although this wasn't as high as some of this facility's other grades, it is still an excellent grade. Our nursing rating assesses the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of licensure of the nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at a few quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place excelled in these areas, with excellent scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care a facility provides.
