Facility Inspections
Although this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it did receive a very good score in the area of inspections. We gave it a B+ for that category, which is one of our better grades. Our inspection grades are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these reports. You should especially avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. This facility received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
One of this nursing home's better category grades was in the category of long-term care. This proved to be its second best category. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of C. In calculating our long-term care grades, we assess the assistance with daily living offered to a facility's patients. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated 78.62319 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is significantly below what we expected. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the area of short-term care, this nursing home received just a D in that area. Our short-term care grades are probably most important for individuals in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Given its poor rating in this category, we weren't shocked to discover that this nursing home provides substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents who returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 0 percent of its patients returning home. This was well below the national average.
Nurse Quality
The last area we analyzed was nursing, which proved to be a low point for this facility. We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for nursing. Our nursing score looks at the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of licensure of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with patients. With a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily, this facility's nurse staffing levels were well below the national average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This facility fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
