Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Our inspection grades account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We were also surprised to find that this facility received a decent nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. We analyzed the qualifications of nurses employed by the nursing home, as well as the quantity of hours those nurses worked with residents, in determining our rating in this category. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This figure is far below the national average. Lastly, although this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared remarkably well in this subcategory.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also didn't fare too badly in the area of short-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a C for that category, which happens to be another one of its more favorable grades. In computing our short-term care grades, we analyze the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This score is considered to be a useful assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we analyzed is long-term care. This nursing home received a very poor grade of F in this category. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means the facility did not perform well in our measures relating to resident care. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. We were disappointed to learn that this nursing home vaccinated only 79.51542 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
