Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Even though this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it received a somewhat respectable score in the area of nursing. We gave it a B- for that category. Our nursing grade weighs several subcategories, however, the main one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provides only 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below the national average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place actually fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. It scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is just as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.
Short-term Care Quality
One of this facility's more favorable category grades was in the area of short-term care. This turned out to be its second most favorable category. In that category, we gave this facility a B-. In computing our short-term care scores, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our objective is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. We were surprised to find that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we focus on. The facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. It is important to determine whether this is adversely impacting the quality of care. The last item we assessed in this category is the number of patients who eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. This figure was below the national average.

Facility Inspections
This facility earned mediocre inspections in recent years. We awarded them a C in this category. We believe that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially focus on the severity of the deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 6 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were in any of the categories labeled J through L. This means the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to put resident health or safety in imminent harm or jeopardy. In addition to having severe deficiencies, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the last area, we awarded this facility a grade of D for our long-term care category. This was the facility's least impressive category score. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. After considering the volume of nursing care, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to discover that this facility vaccinates 96.799995 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
