Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite minor. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
The second highest area we awarded this nursing home in any area came in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a B-. In our short-term care score, we endeavor to create a valuable gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess the nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.

Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. When computing a nursing home's nursing score, we assess the quantity of hours nurses spend with patients as well as the level of skill of the nurses. This particular facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This figure is far below the national average. Lastly, although this place got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in some of our quality metrics. With less than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared very well in this subcategory.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at is long-term care. This nursing home was given a rock bottom grade of F in that category. For prospective patients in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to discover that this nursing home vaccinated 99.2278 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
