Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite minor. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We also want to point out that this facility received a decent grade in our nursing category. We awarded it a grade of B- in the area. Our nursing grade is based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of licensure of those nurses and the number of hours spent with patients. This place provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a somewhat concerning figure which is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. It scored well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.

Short-term Care Quality
The third highest area we gave this nursing home in any area came in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a C. In the area of short-term care, we seek to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. We found that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we focus on. The facility supplied fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. It is still important to determine whether this is adversely impacting the quality of care. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 4.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we analyzed is long-term care, in which this facility was given a rock bottom score here as well. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this area, which is definitely a major concern. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 99.619774 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
