Facility Inspections
In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home excelled in our inspections category, where it received an A+. Very few nursing homes fared as well in this category. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This tells you that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in the industry.
Short-term Care Quality
To complement its high-end assessments in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a score of A for its short-term care score. Our short-term care grades are believed to be more important for residents needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually mandates more highly-skilled nursing services. This means not just nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was given a strong long-term care score. Indeed, we gave it an above average grade of B in this category. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 83.73984 percent of its residents. This is a few points lower than we were hoping for. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, at least this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
The next area we assessed is nursing. This nursing home was given a very good nursing score this year, with a B-. While this isn't as good as many of its other scores, this is nevertheless an acceptable grade in that area. The nursing rating includes a number of data points. The most important variable is the number of hours nurses spent with patients. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, nursing scores also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often a reliable indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a nursing home supplies enough nurses to assist its residents.
