Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

This facility's overall grade was bolstered by the fact that it has earned favorable inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better scores in this area, with a B+. This is a notably better grade than the nursing home's overall score. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this area usually have very few severe deficiencies. While this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, we also would like to note that this nursing home received impressive short-term care marks in this assessment. We gave them one of our more favorable grades in this category, with a B. This proved to be the facility's second highest grade. In forming our short-term care grades, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The goal is to create a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. We were not able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

We also awarded this facility a favorable grade in nursing. This facility earned a grade of B in this category, which is one of our better grades. When calculating a facility's nursing score, we consider the quantity of hours nurses are seeing residents as well as the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a policy of moving patients at least once a day.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This facility's worst category was long-term care, which is the last category we assessed. We gave it an F for this area. Even with multiple acceptable scores in other categories, this grade is still of a concern so we would like to to point it out. When facilities receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means the facility did not perform well in our quality measures relating to resident care. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this facility administered the vaccine to a relatively low 87.16578 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
