Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Although this place's overall score was as bad as it gets, it actually performed well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B+ for that category, which is one of our better scores. Our inspection grades are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home wound up receiving a an abysmal score in our long-term care area. It was given an F in this category. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means the facility did not perform well in our measures relating to patient care. One of the factors we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to only 79.77528 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The third area we analyzed was short-term care. This facility's was given a bottom of the barrel short-term care score where it received an F. Our short-term care grade is typically used to judge a facility's performance with rehabilitation In order to have highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Considering its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the measures we looked at. Frankly, this was what we expected to find. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar metrics was damning for this facility's short-term care grade.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Turning to the fourth category, this facility did not perform very well here either. With a rock bottom grade of F in nursing, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. Our nursing grade looks at the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of training of the nurses and the amount of time spent with residents. This place offered just 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these data points to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
