Long-term Care Quality
On top of receiving a great overall score, this nursing home excelled in our long-term care category. In fact, we gave it an A for that category. For prospective patients looking for a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. Even though we determined this facility has a favorable amount of nursing hours provided by nurses aids and other nursing staff, we found its vaccine statistics to be a bit low. This nursing home gave the pneumonia vaccine to just 89.72603 percent of its residents. This is a figure we would love to see this nursing home improve on. Lastly, we looked at the facility's number of hospitalizations. With 1.82 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home was just about middle of the road in this area.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also received a high-end short-term care score. This actually turned out to be its second most impressive category grade. In that area, this facility received a grade of A. With our short-term care assessment, we try to craft a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This place outperformed the vast majority of facilities with 60.7 percent of its patients returning home. This is a much better rate than most nursing homes.
Facility Inspections
We gave this nursing home a score of A for inspections. Our inspection grades are tied to datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
In the last category we looked at, this facility was given an impressive grade grade of A in our nursing category. With this grade, the facility wrapped up a straight A profile. The nursing score is based on several components, many of which are based on nursing hours. This facility provides an incredible 5.1 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. Out of this total, many of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to providing impressive levels of nursing care, this facility also performed well in many of the quality-based metrics we assessed. In terms of the number of its residents sustaining falls leading to major injury, this place outpaced the national average.
