Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being an elite facility overall, this nursing home also performed well in our inspections category, where it earned a grade of A+. Few places fared as well in this area. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this category tend to have few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home an A. We assessed the licensure of nurses working for the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of time the nurses spent with patients, in determining our score in this area. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of moving a patient even once per day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also want to note the fact that this facility received a superb score of A in our short-term care category. Short-term care grades are typically employed to assess a facility's performance with rehabilitation To have highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to provide better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we graded was long-term care. We gave this nursing home a decent score in this area, with a B-. Although this was not as favorable as many of its other scores, it is nevertheless not the end of the world. With our long-term care score, we analyze the volume of care offered by a nursing home, along with a handful of qualitative statistics. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 98.39572 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is better than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
