Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall grade was decent, it really fared well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility was hit with 8 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Short-term Care Quality
In addition, we also would like to point out that this nursing home received favorable short-term care marks in this assessment. We gave them one of our more favorable grades in that category, with a B+. This turned out to be the facility's second best grade. Short-term care grades are often used to assess a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to offer quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality
Another strength of this facility is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of D. The nursing score is based on several subcategories, however, the most important consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This place fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's worst category was long-term care, which is the final area we assessed. Unfortunately, we gave it an F for this area. Despite some respectable grades in other categories, this grade is still of a concern so we would like to to draw your attention to it. Nursing homes that do not fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 80.51282 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
