Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to faring well overall, this nursing home also received nearly flawless government inspections. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its first-rate accomplishments in other areas, we gave this nursing home a grade of A- for its long-term care grade. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are kept in good health. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 96.79715 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. We assessed the skill-level of nurses at the facility, as well as the quantity of hours the nurses spent with patients, in determining our grade in this category. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final category we analyzed was short-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a strong grade of B. With our short-term care category, we endeavor to create a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents that returned home from the facility. We found that 5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
