Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to faring well overall, this nursing home also received nearly flawless government inspections. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its first-rate accomplishments in other areas, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for its short-term care grade. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Contributing to its fine resume, this facility also received an excellent long-term care score, with a grade of A-. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. After we finished looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 99.26471 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia tragically can be a life threatening condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home doesn't take any chances. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Moving on to the final category, this facility was given a highly favorable nursing rating. We gave it a B+ in that area, topping off one of our finer report cards. In calculating a nursing home's nursing grade, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses are seeing residents and the levels of training of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
