Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall score, we awarded this place an A+ for our inspections rating. Our inspection scores are based on several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this area typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Contributing to its profile, this facility also earned a score of B+ for its long-term care rating. This is a well above average grade in this area. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 97.87234 percent of its residents, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, this nursing home also received favorable short-term care scores in our assessment. In fact, we awarded it one of our higher scores in that area, with a score of B. Our short-term care grade is typically used to measure a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation In order to have highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have better levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this nursing home submitted registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. The last item we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's worst category was nursing, which is the last area we looked at. For this area, we gave this nursing home a grade of D. Our nursing score is based on many components, most of which are tied to nursing hours. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This place fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
