When nursing homes receive this type of score in this category it is usually a good sign for resident care and suggests that the facility is well-staffed with nurses aids. In addition to very favorable nursing hour statistics, this nursing home's vaccination data was first-rate as well. Indeed, this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Finally, we looked at the facility's number of hospitalizations. We found that this nursing home had 8.88 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. While this wasn't as strong as some of its other scores in this category, this statistic can be skewed for some facilities due to the medical complexity of patients.

Switching gears to our final area, this facility was given a strong short-term care grade. Although this was not nearly as impressive as a few of its other grades, this is nevertheless one of the more impressive grades a facility can receive. In determining our short-term care scores, we scrutinize a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. This score is generally a reliable assessment of the facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. This nursing home excelled in the two key staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it supplied more care from registered nurses and physical therapists than the average nursing home. The last measure we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the facility. We found that 35.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home rather than remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
