Nurse Quality
Although we did not rate this facility well overall, we want to point out its relatively favorable nursing rating this year. We gave it a B in this category, which was much better than its overall rating. Our nursing rating is mostly tied to a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Short-term Care Quality
One of this facility's better category grades came in the area of short-term care. This ended up being its second best category. In that category, we gave this facility a C. Our short-term care scores are thought to be more meaningful for people needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically requires more skilled nursing services. This means not merely nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. We were surprised to find that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. In fact, it provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we assessed the number of patients that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 3.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well below average.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned slightly below average inspections in recent years. We gave them a grade of C in this category. We believe that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially look at the severity of those deficiencies. This place had 7 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but none were in any of the categories labeled G through L. This means that this facility avoided the more ominous classes of deficiencies. Lastly, we need to note that this place has received some government fines in recent years. We were relieved to find that these fines were not on the high end as government fines go. Nevertheless, this is not what you like to see.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our fourth area, this facility really didn't fare well in this area either. Due to a poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as terrible as it gets. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is a very solid statistic. To our surprise, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
