Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although we did not rate this facility well overall, we want to point out its relatively favorable nursing rating this year. We gave it a B in this category, which was much better than its overall rating. Our nursing rating is mostly tied to a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Facility Inspections
This place received a C for our inspections rating. This was certainly a notch above its other category grades. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility was hit with 7 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but fortunately none were in any of the categories labeled G through L. This means that inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent danger to patient safety or health. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received some government fines in recent years.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second worse score is short-term care, where it earned a grade of just D in that area. This is a well below average score. Our short-term care grade is often employed to assess a facility's performance with rehabilitation In order to have highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. With a score of this caliber for this category, we were not surprised to find that this place was below average in several staffing metrics we looked at. In fact, it supplied significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most facilities. The final datapoint we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 3.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor metrics was damning for this facility's short-term care score.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we scored was long-term care, proved to be this nursing home's worst area. We awarded this nursing home a D in that area. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After we finished looking at the amount of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. We were optimistic to learn that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.06 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
