Short-term Care Quality
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ short-term care grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Short-term care scores are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 7.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Many of the factors reflect levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility Washington in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a system of moving a patient even once per day.

Another strong feature for this nursing home is that it excelled in inspections, with a B in that category. It outperformed most facilities in this category. Our inspection ratings are based on pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this area have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This facility was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This indicates that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the fourth category, this facility was awarded a respectable long-term care rating. Even though this was not nearly as strong as some of its other scores, this is really not a poor grade. In calculating our long-term care ratings, we assess the facility's personal care services.
