Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home's overall grade was propped up by a strong long-term care score. We awarded them one of our higher scores in that area, with a grade of B+. If you are looking for services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care ratings. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccinations. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 93.24895 percent of its patients. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

This facility's second best category grade came in the area of government inspections. In that category, we gave this nursing home a B. It actually outperformed most facilities in this category. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next highest area we awarded this facility in any category came in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a C. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to judge a facility's rehabilitation services In order to offer highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have better levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other types of therapists. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final item we assessed in this category is the number of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that just 5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The last area we scored was nursing. This facility received a grade of C in the category. There are many data points included in this category. Most of these factors are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, we look at quality-based metrics, such as the percentage of patients who suffered pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these metrics are indicators of the quality of nursing care.
