Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home received a very strong long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- in this area, which really boosted its overall grade. When facilities receive a score in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 99.095024 percent of its residents. This is a reliable method to minimize unnecessary hospitalizations for the senior population. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

This nursing home's second best category is inspections. In that area, we gave this nursing home a B. Our inspection grades are based on many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This nursing home was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Turning to another strength for this facility, it also earned an elite nursing grade. In fact, we gave this nursing home a score of D. When determining a facility's nursing score, we look at the quantity of hours nurses are seeing residents and the skill levels of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This place performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these statistics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next category we assessed was short-term care. We gave it an F in this category, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. This is certainly a major disappointment. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Considering its grade in this category, we were not stunned to find that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. Frankly, this was what we expected to find. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 4.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
