Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall score, we awarded it a B+ for our inspections rating. This is the result of the nursing home receiving a decent government inspection report this year. Inspection scores are tied to datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. You should especially avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. While this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Surprisingly, we awarded this facility a grade of B- for its short-term care grade, which is not too bad of a score. Short-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a wide scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The final datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. This figure was below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. In calculating our nursing ratings, we assess both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This facility fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these metrics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next category we scored is long-term care. This facility received a poor grade of F in this category. Nursing homes that do not score well in long-term care often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We discovered that this facility administered the vaccine to a relatively low 87.012985 percent of its residents, which is several points lower than we expected. Surprisingly, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
