Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this place turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it earned an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Our inspection grades are tied to several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This facility was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple relatively minor deficiencies are not necessarily something to panic about.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an A+. There are quite a few criteria included in this category. Most of these subcategories relate to staffing levels. This place provides an incredible 5.1 hours of nursing care per resident each day. Out of that total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly highly trained levels of nurses. On top of offering high levels of care, this place also performed well in several of the quality measures we assessed. In terms of the percentage of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this place performed better than the national average.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on our third area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our short-term care rating. This is a dominant grade. In the category of short-term care, we seek to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. One reason for this place's strong grade in this area is that it offers more care from registered nurses than a typical facility. The last metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. This place performed better than most facilities in this area with 53.6 percent of its residents returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed is long-term care, in which this facility was awarded a C. This turned out to be this facility's weakest category. This is nevertheless not the end of the world. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. While we determined this facility had a favorable amount of nursing care provided by aids and other nursing staff, we found its vaccine statistics to be a bit lower than we expected. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to just 71.00591 percent of its residents. This is a statistic we would really like to see this nursing home improve. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.69 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
