Facility Inspections
While this place's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is one of our better scores. Our inspection grades are based on many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. This place had 6 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were in category J, K or L. This means inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to put patient safety or health in immediate harm or jeopardy. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In that area, we awarded this facility an C. There are a variety of factors within this category. Most of these subcategories relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. It scored well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality
We gave this facility just a D for our short-term care rating. This is not a score to write home about. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. With its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Frankly, this was what we expected to find. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents that eventually returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 5.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we graded is long-term care. It received an F in this area, which is a poor grade. When nursing homes receive this type of score in long-term care it is often a bad sign for resident care and it may mean that the facility is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We discovered that this facility provided the vaccine to only 38.107418 percent of its residents, which is several points lower than we expected. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
