Short-term Care Quality
In addition to being a quality facility overall, this nursing home excelled in our short-term care rating, where it earned an A+. Few facilities fared better in this category. With our short-term care rating, we endeavor to create a valuable barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Facility Inspections
In addition, this facility also excelled in inspections, where it earned a grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this area tend to have very few severe deficiencies. This place was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies an imminent threat to resident safety or health. A few relatively minor dings aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of C. While this didn't quite match its scores in some of the categories discussed above, this is still a decent score. Nursing grades are largely tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This place provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a somewhat discouraging figure as it is well below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics. Although this nursing home got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in some of these quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed well in this area. This is generally an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a system of turning a resident at least once a day.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we analyzed was long-term care, which turned out to be this nursing home's least impressive category. We awarded this nursing home a D in that area. Naturally, this category hurt the facility's overall profile to a certain degree. If you are seeking services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is better than the vast majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
