Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Our inspection grades are tied to items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This facility was hit with 8 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that CMS did not deem any of these deficiencies an imminent threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our long-term care score. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. In addition to offering very impressive levels of nursing care, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 98.453606 percent of its residents. This figure is also much higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. This combination proved to be successful as this facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 1.28 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a much lower hospitalization rate than the majority of nursing homes.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

We also gave this facility a middle of the pack score in the category of short-term care, with a B-. Short-term care ratings are crucial for people in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a broad range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This proved to be more of a strength for this facility. In fact, we found that it outperformed the majority of facilities with 53.8 percent of its residents returning home. This is a higher rate than most nursing homes.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we scored is nursing. For that category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B-. Our nursing score is based on the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of licensure of those nurses and the amount of time spent with patients. This facility provides an impressive 4.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a greater quantity of nursing care than that offered by most nursing homes. Lastly, we baked a few quality-based metrics into our nursing grades. This facility fared poorly in two of the areas we considered, with below average figures for minimizing its patients' pressure ulcers and major falls.
