Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this place is a strong nursing home is that it received an impressive inspection score. In fact, inspections is its best category. In that area, we gave it an A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite insignificant. We weren't able to track down deficiency counts for this nursing home. Without having all of the deficiency data for this facility, it is challenging to evaluate the place in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
An additional quality feature for this nursing home is that it was awarded a very positive short-term care grade. In fact, this wound up being its second best category score. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. Our short-term care scores are critical for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates additional skilled nursing services. This includes a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to return home from the facility. We found that 5.5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility's third most favorable category ended up being its long-term care score, where it was awarded a B-. Our long-term care scores are more important for residents in need of more traditional assistance associated with activities of daily living. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is a very solid total. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
The next category we assessed was nursing. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a C. Nursing scores are primarily associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, our nursing scores also factor in some quality-focused metrics. We like to look at the percent of residents who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these data points are measures of the quality of nursing care, since superior care can reduce these issues.
