While we graded this nursing home very poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that area. Our nursing rating is mostly associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

As it turns out, this facility only received a D for its short-term care grade, which ended up being one of its more favorable category grades. In calculating our short-term care grades, we analyze a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This category is frequently a reliable assessment of a facility's rehabilitation services. With a score this poor in this area, we weren't shocked to learn this facility was well below average in multiple staffing figures we focus on. It offered significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Unfortunately, this facility only earned a D for its long-term care score, which is not one of our better scores. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is higher than most nursing homes. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.

In our final category of inspections, this facility received an F here. Since this data is collected by independent government inspectors, we heavily weight negative feedback in this category. For places with poor inspection scores, you should really scrutinize any severe deficiencies found on their recent inspection reports. This nursing home had 7 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they caused a risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
