Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To pair with its strong overall performance, we awarded this facility an A for our inspections rating. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another quality feature for this facility is that it received an above average long-term care grade. In fact, this ended up being its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B+. When facilities receive a grade in this range in long-term care it typically means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 96.68874 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is more than the average nursing home. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to the next category, this nursing home also received a grade of B for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average grade in this category. In determining our short-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This score is often a fair assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 4.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we assessed is nursing, where this facility was awarded a grade of B-. This actually proved to be this nursing home's weakest category. This is nevertheless not a terrible score. The nursing score includes several data points. The most important variable is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, we also factored a few quality-based metrics into our nursing scores. This nursing home was relatively weak in a few of the major areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its patients' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are typically reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
