Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

While we graded this nursing home very poorly overall, it received a somewhat respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a B- in that area. The nursing score includes quite a few factors, many of which are tied to nursing hours. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this place actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually a reliable indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

As it turns out, this nursing home only received a D for its long-term care grade, which happens to be one of its more respectable category grades. If you are seeking anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to find that this nursing home vaccinated 96.85864 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this nursing home only received a D for its short-term care score, which is not one of our better scores. In the category of short-term care, we strive to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Considering its score in this category, we were not surprised to find that this place is well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the figures we looked at. Honestly, this was about what we expected here. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Turning to our final category of inspections, this facility received a grade that's as bad as it gets. We weight this category more heavily than our other categories. When a nursing home has this poor of an inspection score, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. This particular facility was assessed a category G through L deficiency, which are among the more serious categories of deficiencies. This generally indicates that the deficiencies uncovered by CMS had potential to cause actual harm to patients. Lastly, we want to point out that this nursing home received significant government fines in recent years totaling over $100,000. This typically signifies that a bad track record has been an issue for multiple years.
