Facility Inspections
Although we gave this place a poor overall grade, we actually gave it a fairly respectable score in the area of inspections, where it received a B-. This was better than its other categories. Inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to patient safety. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In that area, we gave this nursing home an B-. Nursing ratings are tied to quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often an indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality
This facilities third most favorable category was short-term care. We awarded it a B- in this area. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this area. Short-term care grades are typically used to gauge a facility's performance with rehabilitation To provide quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its level of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The question is whether this adversely impacted quality of care. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the number of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the last category, we awarded this facility a D for long-term care. This is the facility's least impressive category grade. Facilities that don't score well in this category often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated only 87.37864 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best score in this category.
