Facility Inspections
In addition to being a strong facility overall, it also earned A+ health inspections recently. Its inspections are virtually flawless. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to be an immediate threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was given an A+ for its long-term care grade. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care tend to provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is far higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Turning to our fourth area, this nursing home also performed admirably in the short-term care category. We awarded it a grade of B+ in this category. This rounded out a first-rate profile. In computing our short-term care ratings, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other types of therapists. This rating is frequently a meaningful measure of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.2 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
