Facility Inspections
In addition to being a strong facility overall, it also earned A+ health inspections recently. Its inspections are virtually flawless. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to be an immediate threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was given an A+ for its long-term care grade. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care tend to provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is far higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
The next area we analyzed was short-term care. This nursing home was awarded a very positive short-term care grade, with a grade of B+ in this category. Our short-term care grade is often used to measure a nursing home's rehabilitation services In order to provide highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other types of therapists. Unfortunately, we were not able to locate registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Finally, we considered the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
The fourth area we looked at is nursing, where this nursing home received a B+. This finished off an elite profile. Only a select few nursing homes received a B+ or better in all four categories. Nursing grades are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some quality-based measures in this category. This nursing home fared well in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. By way of illustration, in terms of the number of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this place performed better than the national average. This is generally an indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided with better nursing care.
