Facility Inspections
In addition to being a quality facility overall, this place really excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A. Not many nursing homes performed better in this category. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This means the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Nurse Quality
This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B. Our nursing grade is largely based on a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to an additional strength for this nursing home, we gave them one of our better scores in our short-term care category as well, with a grade of B. In computing our short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to formulate a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we considered in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we graded is long-term care. This facility was awarded a better than average long-term care grade in our assessment, with a B. This facility truly doesn't have any weaknesses. If you are looking for services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care ratings. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 85.9375 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be a bit below what we were hoping for but still a respectable figure. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, we were pleased to find facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
