Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving an elite overall grade, this nursing home earned an A+ inspection grade. This grade is based on its recent government inspections. An A+ in this category is one of the best complements we can pay to a nursing home. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite minor. While this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Compounding its impressive accomplishments in other areas, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for its long-term care grade. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 99.76744 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The third category we assessed is short-term care. Contributing to its superb resume, this facility also performed well in this category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of of A- in the area. In determining our short-term care grades, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to formulate a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

The fourth category we rated was nursing, where this nursing home received a B+. This topped off a very impressive profile. Only a select few nursing homes received a B+ or higher in every category. When computing a facility's nursing score, we assess the amount of time nurses are seeing patients as well as the levels of training of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
