Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it earned an A+ in our inspections category. This is as good as it gets in this very important category. Inspection scores are tied to datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this area have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also awarded this facility a score of A+ for its long-term care grade. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care typically provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are well cared for. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 96.969696 percent of its residents, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is often a deadly ailment for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home also received an A+ for its nursing grade. Our nursing rating includes many datapoints, many of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home averages 0.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning to the next area, this facility was awarded an excellent short-term care grade. We gave it a grade of A- in this category, resulting in this facility receiving straight A's. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
