Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned an inspection score which is stronger than its overall rating. Inspection grades are based on the facility's recent health inspections. We awarded this nursing home an above average grade of B+ in this area. Arguably the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Although this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple of minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Short-term Care Quality
Another one of this nursing home's more impressive category scores was in the area of short-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B. It actually performed better than most nursing homes in this area. In forming our short-term care ratings, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our objective is to create a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this nursing home provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final item we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents that were able to return home from the facility. We found that 5.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality
We also gave this nursing home a decent score in the category of nursing care, with a grade of B-. When calculating our nursing grades, we assess both nursing hours and the skill levels of the nurses. This facility provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics. While this facility got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of these quality measures. With less than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this statistic. This can be a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a system of turning residents even once per day.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we graded was long-term care. Sadly, it received an F in this category, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. This is clearly a significant concern. In a long-term care setting, the primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 99.756096 percent of its residents, which is more than the average nursing home. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
