Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although this facility's overall grade was terrible, it actually didn't perform as poorly in nursing. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B- for that category. In determining our nursing scores, we weigh both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This facility averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is not an impressive total. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is generally a good indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place.
Short-term Care Quality
Incredibly, we gave this nursing home a C for its short-term care score, which really isn't too bad of a score. In determining our short-term care ratings, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to create a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. We were surprised to find that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it supplied fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.4 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second least favorable category was long-term care, where it earned a grade of just D in that area. This is a well below average score. For residents seeking a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 99.42987 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
Facility Inspections
Moving on our final category of inspections, this facility received an F in this area. Since this data is collected by government inspectors, we heavily weight poor results in this category. For places that received this poor of an inspection rating, we would scrutinize the severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This particular nursing home was assessed 5 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they caused a risk to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
