Facility Inspections
Although we gave this place a weak overall score, we actually gave it a somewhat respectable grade in the area of inspections, where we gave it a B-. This was certainly better than its other category grades. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. This place received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home an B-. Our nursing category is based on many factors, many of which are tied to nursing hours. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality
The third best area we gave this nursing home in any area came in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a B-. In computing our long-term care scores, we scrutinize the assistance with daily living received by the nursing home's residents. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home provided the vaccine to 99.55556 percent of its residents, which is a very solid total. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we scored is short-term care. We awarded this facility a grade of C in this category. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we size up a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This rating is frequently a solid assessment of a facility's rehabilitation. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. It supplied fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. It is still important to determine whether this is adversely impacting the quality of care. The final measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that just 4.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home. This figure was below average.
