Short-term Care Quality
We want to point out that this nursing home's short-term care score outpaced its overall score. This facility earned a B in this category, which is a strong score. Short-term care grades are generally used to assess a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to have quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. We weren't able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 7.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home also earned a strong inspection grade. Inspection grades are based on the facility's recent health inspections. We gave this facility a B in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant. This particular nursing home received 9 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this nursing home only received a D for its long-term care grade, which is not one of our better scores. For prospective residents in need of a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to learn that this facility vaccinated 97.1831 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home's worst area was nursing, which is the final area we assessed. For this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of D. Nursing ratings are based in large part on quantity of nursing care available. This facility averaged a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
