Registered Staff Hours
In addition to earning a strong overall score, this facility performed even better in our inspections category which is based on the nursing home's recent government inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A+ for that area, which is one of our highest scores. Our inspection scores weigh several factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this category tend to have very few severe deficiencies. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home was given a strong long-term care grade as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that category with a grade of B+. When nursing homes receive this type of score in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. One of the datapoints we considered after nursing hours was vaccinations. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its patients. This is a reliable method to avoid unnecessary deaths for the senior population. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Does this page answer your questions about Clearview Home?
Turning to the category of nursing care, this facility didn't perform quite as well in this area as some of the categories discussed above. Nevertheless, a grade of C in this category is by no means a bad score. When calculating our nursing scores, we factor in both staffing levels and the skill levels of those nurses. This place provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure as it is well below the national average. Lastly, although this facility got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it did well in this subcategory.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to our last category, this facility was given a C for short-term care, which we consider to be a respectable rating. Short-term care ratings are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a wide range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. We were not able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this nursing home. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
