Facility Inspections
This nursing home received a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. Our inspection grades are based on datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this category typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Based on this, we had a generally favorable view of this facility's recent inspections.
Long-term Care Quality
This facilities second most favorable category is long-term care. We awarded it a grade of B- in this category. This is basically a middle of the pack score in this category. In determining our long-term care scores, we assess the facility's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 93.69085 percent of its residents. This is a few points lower than we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Nevertheless, this nursing home excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
One of this facility's better category grades was in the area of nursing care. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of C. When calculating a facility's nursing score, we assess the quantity of hours nurses are caring for residents and the level of licensure of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. It scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed is short-term care. Sadly, it received an abysmal F for this area, which is a rock bottom score. This is certainly a major concern. Our short-term care grades are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. With its poor score in this area, we were not surprised to find this nursing home offers far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 3.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
